Noah - If it makes you feel any better, I started to learn the guitar once I learned my daughter was on the way. I'm still *really* far off from being able to play in front of others, but thankfully, my daughter isn't that picky. Pick a few songs, practice chords, and you'll be amazed at how quickly you learn.
Yeah, it's a process. I haven't had much time to practice. I will probably be unemployed soon, so I'll try to get going then. I also own a very cheap guitar, so I don't know if it'll EVER sound particularly good.
